What to Do If any Program Isn’t Available in Your State

Alabama — No ConnectHomeUSA Coverage

  • If ConnectHomeUSA doesn’t serve your area in Alabama, don’t worry. You can still apply for Lifeline or ask your PHA about local initiatives. Many community centers and nonprofits partner with Lifeline providers to offer free tablets to residents in public housing.

Texas — ACP Not Active

  • In Texas, if the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is paused or unavailable, your best alternatives are Lifeline and VA Telehealth Tablet Program (if you’re a Veteran). Some state-run digital equity efforts also run free device drives—check your local housing authority or broadband office for updates.

New York — No VA Telehealth Tablet Program

  • If the VA Telehealth Tablet Program isn’t offered in your county, contact your VA care team to request a Digital Divide Consult. You’ll likely still qualify for a Lifeline free tablet or ACP discount, and local nonprofits sometimes distribute devices through HUD-based initiatives.

Florida — Limited Lifeline Providers in Rural Areas

  • Even if Lifeline providers are sparse in parts of Florida, ACP or ConnectHomeUSA may still help. If both are unavailable, reach out to nonprofit groups such as EveryoneOn or Computers4People, and ask your library or community center if they host tablet lending programs or digital training sessions.
